Table Tennis Academy
The Ackworth School Table Tennis Academy is a pre-eminent programme not only within UK boarding schools, but within the junior game. The programme offers students the chance to excel under a world class coach within a school environment which champions traditional values. Our students compete in division one of the Junior British League and train in our bespoke table tennis centre. Pupils also have the opportunity to travel abroad to train and play in international tournaments.
The excellent coaching programme marries academia and sport, this gives many students the opportunity to excel at national and even international level without compromising their studies.

Coaches

Eli Baraty
Eli Baraty is an internationally recognised name within table tennis, representing England on multiple occasions as well as playing in the French and German leagues. Known for taking a bespoke approach to coaching, Eli works closely with a number of international programmes, helping to fine-tune their players. An accomplished coach, Eli has previously built up a non-existent table tennis programme into a significant force to be reckoned with. His team went on to win eight National Schools Championships and finished sixth in the World School Games – an unsurpassed British record. “I want Ackworth School’s Table Tennis Academy to be a place where players from around the world come to train, where national teams come to excel. Sam Mabey
Supporting players’ development is Sam Mabey, Assistant Coach. Having done the rounds at the top levels of various European competitions, Sam is perfectly positioned to bring his experience and energy to help Head Coach Eli achieve his vision for the Academy. “I have had a lot of international experience of playing at the highest level in table tennis with playing in Germany, Sweden, Denmark and now currently France. My aim here is to bring these students on and to take them to the best they can be. I have won the national championships singles and doubles and also the British championships. I have been able to live in five different countries and got to work with some of the best coaches in Europe. I can use this knowledge to help our school win medals for the future.”
